January late afternoon on the beach

While some of my friends are enjoying (or hating?) winter in the Northern hemisphere I get the pleasure to walk barefoot on a sandy beach in Queensland.

Before the rain

There was rain in those clouds but nothing could get in the way for an evening run on the beach.

Time over I have observed a similarity of appearance between dog and owners.

Company

Photography for me can be an almost spiritual experience.
When the light is soft in a calm setting I get to experience a dream.
Looking down on the screen of my camera I create images of moments that later I can relive.

She came, fast, across the bay, carried by the wind.
In the late afternoon sun, silently, landing on the beach at low tide.

Last rays

The unusual sight of several young men having a good time without the help of alcohol; social interaction without the media, no screen.
I did not witness any loud banter or the typical pushing and shoving.
It was like a scene from a by-gone era.

Old school

I like to think that technology sometimes enhances my life but I beware of falling dependent on it. I don't want to loose the skill to do it "old school".

Alfresco dining

No restaurant with fancy service can match the feeling that I get from preparing and enjoying a meal outside, with minimal utensils, away from civilization.

End of summer

Today the weather turned and it took with him the summer spirit.
Shorter days and darker nights are approaching.
A last walk on the beach feeling the ocean between the toes.

The difference

I see two types of photographs: the ones that mean to record an event or place so the mind can be later jogged, and the other, more involved and profound, that are an artistic expression of one's creativity.

I find myself drawn to the latter.
As light and shapes are constantly evolving in front of my eyes, sometimes present for only a split of a second, my skill to capture the moment is tested; I have to think fast and move swiftly.

There is a special relationship between a dog and man; one can tell a lot from their interaction.

Åland sunsets

The light was so incredibly soft and the shadows long.
The summer of 2014 was an exceptionally warm one on the Baltic sea and now I was walking around barefoot close to the Arctic Circle.
The rock warmed by the sun while the air had a light chill: the sunset was approaching.
