New Year's Eve

I am not for one to party in a big crowd, celebrations in a drunken stupor and loud shouting.
I am more for the quiet place with selected cherished friends, exotic location, kind of guy.
New Year's Eve was celebrated away from any noise, but the one of wind, cascading water and my little gas stove.

We were tired from walking and rock-hopping; set up camp early.
I had no idea when midnight struck as I was sound asleep.

Rocky creek

There was an early summer heat wave and temperatures were exceeding comfortable levels for bushwalking.
We hiked-in at night to avoid the blazing sun and the effort was rewarded: the creek was flowing with clear water, inviting.

We spent the weekend swimming and relaxing in the shade of the trees.
The only access to the creek is by a couple of hours walk and that keeps it pristine: we had the place for ourselves.

Waking up in nature

I make sure I can leave the city already on a Friday night to then drive for a few hours, West, into the bush.
A short walk in the dark and set up camp, sometimes late.
It's all worth it, for waking up on the weekend one more morning in nature .

Pure gold

Even the imperceptible power of water can shape pure granite, given enough time.
As it carved through thousands of years it changed its course and today it flows in a chamber much lower, leaving behind the leather-like smooth rock.
Sunlight bounces around making it appear as pure gold.

Bubbles in the creek

There is a creek that I like to visit on my backpacking trips.
This time I looked closely at the bubbles formed by the cascading waters.
